Besonders Internettechnologien wird ein großes Mehrwertpotential zur Steigerung der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit unterstellt. Doch wie äußern sich solche Mehrwerte? Häufig werden sie eher punktuell als Kosteneffekte / Einsparungen, Reduktion des Produktentwicklungszeitraums (Time to Market), Qualitätsverbesserungen, Risikominimierung, Innovationssprünge oder Zugang zu neuen Marktsegmenten oder Märkten beschrieben.3 Die vorliegende Hausarbeit wählt einen alternativen Ansatz basierend auf der Theorie informationeller Mehrwerte nach Kuhlen und zeigt an einem praktischen Beispiel auf, welche Mehrwerte durch ein Internet basiertes Dokumentenmanagementsystem (iDMS) für Unternehmen in der Automobilzulieferindustrie geschaffen werden können. Es wird gezeigt, dass der Typus des komparativen Mehrwerts, der den „größeren Informationswert der elektronischen Version gegenüber der korrespondierenden konventionellen [Version]“4 beschreibt, am besten geeignet für diese Mehrwertdiskussion ist. Aus Kundenanforderungen wird dann ein prozessuales und technisches Anforderungsprofil für ein iDMS entwickelt, das den Vergleich der konventionellen Lösung mit dem zukünftigen iDMS erlaubt. Die Vorteile des neuen iDMS werden im Vergleich zur bestehenden Lösung in einer tabellarischen Übersicht als komparative Mehrwerte dargestellt.
