Die Gründe liegen in der Internationalisierung, die ständigen Produktwechsel und die Notwendigkeit zu permanenter Veränderung. Diese Problematik wird insbesondere in sehr dynamischen Branchen wie der Unterhaltungselektronik deutlich. Vor 30 Jahren gab es dort fast ausschließlich nationale Anbieter mit relativ einfachen Produkten und heute wiederum findet man weltweit agierende Hersteller, die technologisch hoch anspruchsvolle Produkte vermarkten. Darüber hinaus müssen die Unternehmen stets innovative Produkte anbieten: energieeffiziente Geräte, leistungsstarke Technik, modernes Design usw. Durch diese Einflüsse nimmt der Anteil der Routineaufgaben ab, während zunehmend komplexe und unkonventionelle Aufgaben anstehen, die in Form von Projekten abgewickelt werden.
Projektorientierte Unternehmungen planen und führen in der Regel nicht nur ein Einzelnes, sondern mehrere Projekte gleichzeitig aus. Es ist offensichtlich, dass an die Unternehmensleitung und vor allem an ihre Fähigkeiten zur Komplexitätsbewältigung hohe Ansprüche gestellt werden. Eine Analyse bereits realisierter Projekte zeigt, dass die Komplexitätsbewältigung in der Vergangenheit nicht immer erfolgreich abgeschlossen wurde. Somit ist also die Planung und Durchführung von komplexen Projekten bzw. das Projektmanagement verbesserungsbedürftig. In dieser Seminararbeit soll nun untersucht werden, welchen Beitrag das “Projektcontrolling“ hierfür leisten kann
Die folgenden Kapitel dieser Arbeit sollen im Schwerpunkt die Vorgehensweise des Projektcontrollings bei der Planung und Kontrolle von Projekten näher erklären. Nachdem im Kapitel 2 eine kurze Begriffsklärung erfolgt, soll anschließend das strategische Projektcontrolling in Kapitel 3 sowie das operative Projektcontrolling in Kapitel 4 vorgestellt werden. Die Seminararbeit wird im Anschluss mit einem Resümee auf Kapitel 5 abgeschlossen.
