Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Anglistik - Literatur, Note: 2,0, Universität Mannheim, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, aufzuzeigen, dass die Protagonistin Jane Eyre mit dem damals vorherrschenden Rollenmodell bricht und sowohl in ihrer Gedankenäußerung als auch in ihrem Handeln emanzipierte Verhaltensweisen verfolgt. Zunächst gilt es, das gängige Rollenmodell in der viktorianischen Gesellschaft herauszuarbeiten und anhand bestimmter Figuren, denen Jane während ihres Bildungsprozesses begegnet, ausgewählte Facetten im Detail zu diskutieren. Besonderes Augenmerk wird hierbei auf Janes Freundin Helen Burns, die Schulleiterin Ms. Temple und ihre vermeintliche Konkurrentin Blanche Ingram gelegt. Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeit wird in der Beschäftigung Janes mit den verschiedenen Varianten des „Angel in the House“-Modells wie auch in der Auseinandersetzung mit Vertretern des Patriarchats liegen. Als Konsequenz daraus ergibt sich Janes eigener Lebensweg.
