Dabei gibt es nicht nur die Möglichkeit auszudrücken, ob sich ein Ereignis oder Zustand gerade ereignet, ereignet hat oder noch ereignen wird. Diese, durch die verschiedenen Tempora (Präteritum, Präsens, Futur) ermöglichte, Einordnung in die Zeit kann noch ergänzt werden durch Beschreibungen der „inhärent temporalen Eigenschaften“ 1 von Sachverhalten. Solch eine Art der zusätzlichen Grammatikalisierung von Zeit nennt man ‚Aspekt’. Interessanterweise sind sich jedoch die Benutzer bzw. Benutzerinnen der jeweiligen Sprachen eines solchen zeitlichen Ausdrucks oft gar nicht bewusst und wissen zum Teil mit dem Terminus ‚Aspekt’ nichts anzufangen. Das mag unter Anderem daran liegen, dass selbst in einschlägiger Fachliteratur die Definition des Begriffes ‚Aspekt’ nicht sonderlich griffig ist. Im Angelsächsischen Sprachraum gibt es zum Beispiel eine

Außerdem kommt gerade im Deutschen erschwerend hinzu, dass diese Sprache keine grammatische Distinktion für den Aspekt kennt – hier muss mit Hilfe anderer Mittel und Wege versucht werden auszudrücken, ob ein Ereignis etc. zu dem intendierten Abschluss gekommen ist oder (noch) nicht.

In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden ‚Aspekt’ und ‚Aktionsarten’ terminologisch abgegrenzt und somit eine unnötige und verwirrende Ambiguität des Aspektbegriffs aufgehoben. Nach einer Einführung in das Aspektsystem, die im ersten Teil der Arbeit erfolgt, wird im zweiten Teil die deutsche Sprache auf ihre Aspektualität hin untersucht. Wegen der fehlenden durchgängigen Aspektoppositionen aufweist, soll deshalb hier das Zusammenwirken der Kategorien ‚Aspekt’, ‚Aktionsart’ und ‚Tempus’ transparent gemacht werden.3
