In weniger drastischen Fällen hingegen sind die Beeinträchtigungen für die Umwelt vielleicht kaum wahrnehmbar.
Wenn ein Patient nicht mehr weiß, wozu Objekte des normalen Umgangs dienen, so kann man dies sicherlich als schwere Beeinträchtigung werten. Wenn ein Patient eine Säge ratlos abtastet, sich mit Stempel und Stempelkissen ein „Sandwich“ bastelt, um es dann zum Mund zu führen und schließlich in einen Telefonhörer bläst, um daraufhin an beiden Muscheln zu lauschen, so ist dies die Folge einer spezifischen Schädigung neuronaler Strukturen. Einen Keks dagegen nimmt er mit routinierter Geschicklichkeit zu sich, ein erstaunliches Merkmal des Krankheitsbildes Apraxie. Der hier beschriebene Patient ist ein extremer Fall, bei dem weitere Störungen zusätzlich festgestellt wurden. Häufig sind die Fehlhandlungen nicht derart massiv, aber auch nicht weniger behindernd für den Patienten. Nur das Aufdrehen des Verschlusses gelingt zügig und geschickt, ein Widerspruch, der für apraktische Störungen kennzeichnend ist.
